DispensaryHelp Check Your Numbers

Local SEO

Google Business Profile for dispensaries.

Nearby searchers decide in seconds. Photos, hours, categories, and review signals that make your listing the obvious pick.

Type "dispensary near me" into your phone. The three listings at the top get most of the clicks. The rest fight for scraps. That top three is decided by your Google Business Profile: how complete it is, how fresh it is, and what your reviews say.

This is free traffic. No ad spend. No agency retainer. Just a listing done right.

The setup checklist

  • Claim and verify. Search your store name on Google. If you have not claimed the listing, do it now. Verification usually takes a postcard or a video call. Until you verify, you do not control the listing.
  • Pick the right categories. Your primary category should be the closest match to what you are. Add relevant secondaries. Categories are how Google matches you to searches, so be precise.
  • Set exact hours, including holidays. Wrong hours are the fastest way to lose trust. Update holiday hours two weeks early. If you open late or close early regularly, fix the hours instead of disappointing people.
  • Write a real description. Say what you sell, who you serve, and what makes you different, in plain language. Skip the keyword stuffing. One paragraph written by a human beats a paragraph written for a robot.
  • Add your real phone number. The number should ring at the store, not go to a call center. Missed calls from "near me" searches are lost customers you will never hear about.

Photos win the click

Listings with real photos get dramatically more engagement than listings with stock images or no images. Customers want to see what they are walking into.

  • Exterior: storefront in daylight, so people recognize it from the street.
  • Interior: the sales floor, the display cases, the vibe. Clean and well lit.
  • Products: real display shots, not manufacturer renders.
  • Team: staff at work, with permission. Faces build trust.

Add new photos monthly. Fresh photos signal an active business to Google and to customers. Delete blurry or outdated ones. Your listing should look like your store does today.

Review signals

Reviews do double duty: they convince customers and they feed Google's ranking. Respond to every review within 24 hours. Use the routine in our reviews guide.

When you respond, naturally include the words customers use to find you: the neighborhood, the product categories, the service they praised. Do not force it. One natural mention per response is plenty. Google reads responses, and so do the next hundred searchers.

Post weekly

Google Business Posts are free mini-ads on your listing. One post per week: a new product, an event, a deal, a staff pick. Each post takes five minutes and keeps your listing fresh.

Posts expire, so the cadence matters more than any single post. A listing with this week's post looks alive. A listing whose last post is from March looks abandoned.

Common mistakes

  • Duplicate listings. Old addresses, old names, and test listings split your reviews across multiple profiles. Find them and merge or remove them.
  • Wrong pin location. Check your map pin. If it points at the parking lot behind your building, fix it. Customers follow the pin, not your address.
  • Ignoring the Q&A section. Anyone can ask questions on your listing, and anyone can answer them. Claim the section. Answer everything yourself before a stranger does.
  • No accessibility info. Add parking, entrance, and restroom accessibility details. Customers filter on this, and it costs you nothing to list.

Do this week

Own your listing

  1. Claim and verify your Google Business Profile if you have not already.
  2. Fix the basics. Hours, categories, phone, description, map pin. One pass, thirty minutes.
  3. Upload ten real photos. Exterior, interior, products, team. Phone photos are fine if they are clear and current.
  4. Schedule one post per week. Put it on the calendar next to the review routine.
